i feel the need to share my take on AI (that's American Idol for the people who aren't down with the sickness.) i admit this season isn't as enthralling as past seasons, but im an addict nonetheless. and here we go.
Gina- eh. i guess i have nothing against her personally, but I tend to be a little anti-gothic by nature. not that she's necessarily gothic, but she does wear an awful lot of black. i have this instinctive desire to meet her and introduce her to the color pink. maybe then she wont be so angry and yell so much when she sings. because it hurts my ears. im also over the pinkish reddish highlights in her hair. people who do that are trying too hard to be original.
Haley- I LOVE her! and i'll tell you why. she can't sing like mariah or whitney or my woman katharine mcphee from last season, but she can still sing. i think people forget that we don't necessarily NEED another whitney houston in this world. then she'd just end up on crack. plus she wears really cute clothes. i like girls who obviously like shopping.
Blake- another favorite. i'm probably biased because deep down im a 14 year old girl. but he's a cutie. his voice is fresh, original. i like how he puts a new spin on old songs. i enjoy his robot-like 80's dance moves. i reeeeally enjoy the beat boxing. i dont so much enjoy his hair. but i could fix that once i marry him.
Jordin- ok. bless her heart, she seems like a sweet girl. and she's a really good singer, especially considering her age. buuuuut. i think she definitely tries too hard to be cute for the camera. i think i've mentioned how much i hate fake people. i have a fakeness radar. and she's off the charts. to begin with, i HATE that part of the show when the singers are done singing and they talk to ryan. and ryan usually says something witty and half-funny and then the singer struggles to come up with some equally half-funny remark to respond with. and the whole thing is just awkward and painful to watch. because obviously nobody is acting like themselves. and then they stand there as ryan recites their phone number and they hold up their fingers for whatever number they are. and smile all cheesey-like and fake. who started that whole holding up your fingers thing anyway?? it really bothers me.
my point being...Jordin is especially irritating when it comes to this portion of the show.
Lakisha- does this woman have a personality? because im pretty sure i havent seen her smile yet. or frown. or laugh. or.....talk. and when she sings she looks angry. she sneers through that gapped tooth. and i get scared.
Chris Richardson- im sorry my man. there's only room for one justin timberlake in this world. and he's way hotter than you.
Chris Sligh- last season, i had an issue with people who were voluntarily bald. this season, it's the white man who chooses to have an afro. that's all i've got.
Melinda- loooooove her! she's modest. not fake. doesnt say really lame things and try to make people laugh. she tends not to hold up her fingers into the number that she is while standing next to ryan. that's a plus. AND her voice is awesome! she has awesome phrasing and technique. she puts a lot of emotion into her singing. good stuff.
Phil- did everyone see the movie "Powder"? 'nuff said.
Sanjaya- ugggggghhhhh. i can't even begin to describe what i feel when i look at this kid. it makes my skin crawl. that sounds really mean. but i guess i can be mean sometimes. how did he get on this show to begin with???? how did the judges decide that he was good enough to make it to hollywood. i mean......IN WHAT WORLD would people look at him, hear him sing and say "yes. this is a winner." in no world. would that ever happen. because he's repulsive.
there you go. my opinions. im going for haley, blake and melinda. i really can't pick just one at this point.
last night when i was walking to my door from my car (about a 10 minute walk because i had to park about 8 blocks away)....i heard a rooster making that rooster noise. what's it called? crowing? cawing? i have no idea. it was making that cocka-doodle-doo noise that those birds make.
i was confused. who has a rooster in their apartment?? and why?
and then i was mad. i thought i had escaped the world of farm animals. it's like they're chasing me.
