Something funny happened to me on my last trip. And I'm taking liberties with the word "funny." Because it actually wasn't that funny. At least not to me.
I arrive at my hotel at the end of day one of a three day trip. I begin to arrange all of my things in my hotel room. (i have a routine.) lo and behold. i cannot find my make-up bag. it's nowhere to be found. rewind to 8 hours earlier as i was packing and yes, i did indeed leave my make-up bag on my bedroom floor.
i laughed out loud. im pretty sure i said "whaaaaaaaat?" and then i freaked out. because, hello, no make-up. for three whole days.
now....if you're reading this, it means you're either a friend or a family member. so you've seen me without make-up. it's not pretty. literally. i look like an eight-year old girl. but an unattractive one. im pretty much the ugliest person on earth when i have no make-up on my face. and sure, i often leave my house or choose to go out looking rather unattractive, because that's how i roll. i just cant seem to care about looking like crap when im with people i know. because honestly, if you dont like me when im ugly.....you dont deserve to like me when im looking not-as-ugly. but never in my life have i been forced to WORK with no make-up. amongst STRANGERS. who are forced to look at me for hours on end in a confined space. those poor passengers. i mean.......i was without even a tube of chapstick.
i admit i was self-conscious about it at first. until i realized i would never see any of these people again and they really don't care if im wearing make-up or not. they wouldn't care if i was wearing a bozo wig. they just want their free can of coke.
i was just growing accustomed to the idea of walking around bare-faced and ugly when i happened to notice the hottest man-passenger EVER in row 21. he was hotness. and completely out of my league. and completely disinterested in me. i blame the lack of make-up. and my face in general. but i continue to maintain that if i would have had make-up on, he would have proposed. he just would have.
just kidding. i dont need to meet men on planes. im a happy girl. and now im home with my make-up. so im even happier.
but im feeling liberated. so i might start going out in public more often sans make-up. because honestly, who am i trying to impress. (and who's all that impressed with me anyway?)
